I look for a better economy system for better world.
My name is Yoonho Cho, 11th grade of GVCS Korea.
I am still at the age of learning the world. When looking at it, human beings, large or small, are engaged in their own economic activities. Children run around, students study, some go to work and some run a shop. Another person does household chores, and all of their activities can be defined as individual unit economic activities.
Dr. Karl Polanyi's world famous materpiece - can be said to be part of an economic model that focuses on each of these economic actors and strives for their better economy. The ideas generalized in classical economics such as the pursuit of unlimited profit by companies, maximizing margins using gaps between production and consumption, economies of scale, and slimming production costs have brought serious environmental and human rights problems to our society and raised controversy over the morality of those at the top of the wealth pyramid.
I live in a reality where I can no longer discuss the economy without considering society and the environment. The previous corporate philosophy and CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility) was that investing in the economy goes first, putting other values a little behind and other values should be served after ‘maximizing the pie’.
But it is different now.
Companies are in an era where their existence itself must be ethically expelled if they do not pursue profits within a range harmonized with the protection of the world's environment and society. It would be difficult to see a company ‘literally’ expelled in the private economy, but selfish mind will not be compatible with entrepreneurship and will be difficult to survive.
So I pursue for the better future. I decided to define myself as a pioneer for active in positive way of economic function and research related knowledge. There are many areas where fairness is involved even if it is not about trade.
We will look for them through the blog from now on.
